Budget
Here, we will try to describe at best our budget.
We have decided to travel without working! Actually, we won’t look for any paid jobs. If an interesting opportunity comes to us, why not. We will see in due time.
Actually, we will ‘work’ only in New-Zealand but in exchange for room and board and not for money. It’s called HelpX (a dedicated post will arrive soon). For the rest of our trip, we will backpack like tourists (ok, poor tourists but still tourists).
Even if each night is included in our budget, we hope to find a lot of CouchSurfing (for that too, a post will arrive) to meet locals.

For the cost estimate, we have taken an average of prices found here and there on the web. Then a safety margin of 20% has been added to regular life expenses for each country. Yes, we like to forecast (see Back-up money and Budget ‘Back to normal life’) to avoid any misfortune…

Back-up money
The back-up money is THE travel safety budget. If we don’t spend it, it will be integrated in the ‘Back to normal life’ budget. As we like to enjoy ourselves and we wish to visit Antarctica (this is hypothetical), maybe we will have to use some of this money… At first, this budget was around 5 000 €, in the end that’s what we have left in our bank account after subtracting the other budgets. It will be updated on a regular basis!
Budget ‘Back to normal life’
Because someday we will go home and we just want to make sure to restart our ‘normal life’ with a financial boost . So, some money is blocked.
